Google has recently announced that it will be disabling the Less Secure Apps feature<\/a><\/strong> on some of its accounts from May 30th, 2022<\/b>. <\/p>\n

What is the Less Secure Apps feature in Gmail?<\/h2>\n

Less Secure Apps is a feature in Gmail that allows software and devices to sign in to your Gmail account with your main Google username and password.<\/p>\n

Up until now, it was possible to send emails through Gmail SMTP with this setting turned on.<\/p>\n

Now, Google has begun phasing out Less Secure Apps from May 30th, 2022<\/b>. Please note this deadline does not apply to Google Workspace or Google Cloud Identity customers. The enforcement date for these customers will be announced on the Workspace blog at a later date.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve recommended app passwords for some time, but some customers have chosen to use Less Secure Apps since it\u2019s more straightforward. Now that the feature is being retired, all users will need to switch to app passwords or use a different mailer.<\/p>\n

Option 1: Configure Post SMTP with Gmail\/G Suite using OAuth<\/h2>\n

PostSMTP<\/a><\/strong> users using Gmail\/G Suite SMTP details may face some inconvenience when sending emails. In order to send your emails through Gmail without facing any deliverability problems, you can configure the PostSMTP plugin using the steps in the video below.<\/p>\n
