Mailgun with Post SMTP

Mailgun is a widely recognized and reliable solution for optimizing email delivery. Employing a secure API, Mailgun ensures the safe and efficient transmission of your emails. What’s more, Mailgun offers a generous 3-month free trial period to kickstart your email endeavors.

Setting up the Mailgun account: –

To get started, you’ll need a Mailgun account. If you don’t have an account, sign up for a new Mailgun account, and  

If you have an existing account, fill in the Email and Password field.

Click on Log in.

After clicking login, you will be on the Mailgun Dashboard.

Installing and Activating the Post SMTP Plugin: –

Before getting started, you’ll need to install the Post SMTP plugin.

Let’s cover the steps to set up Mailgun with Post SMTP.

Go to the Post SMTP dashboard and click on Start the wizard.

Mailer: –

 A window will pop up containing different Mailers services; select Mailgun from here.

 For the From Address, there are two required fields.

a.     From Email (You must use the same email address you used to log in to your Mailgun account.)

b.     From Name.

The “Prevent plugins and themes for changing this” toggle button will be under the From Email and Name fields. Check both of them enabled.

Now, you have to enter the API Key. Click on API Key to be redirected to the Mailgun API Key screen.

Generating an API Key: –

Your Mailgun API key might have even been automatically emailed to you. If not, you must return to the tab or window where you typed in your Mailgun domain details.

The tiny circle with your initials in the top-right corner of your Mailgun account must be clicked. Select API Security next. T

his will take you to a page where your Mailgun API keys are listed.

To generate your API key, scroll to the Mailgun API keys section and

click the Create API key button.

A modal window will open where you can specify a description for your API key.

We suggest adding a report to help you remember what you’re using the API key for.

When you’re ready to proceed, press the Create API key button.

 A new window will then open and show your unique API key.

The key is only displayed once, so make a copy and store it somewhere accessible and secure. You can make a copy of the key by clicking the copy icon.

 Return to the Post SMTP settings after copying the entire key, and paste the text into the Mailgun API Key field.

Getting the Domain: –

You will see the Domain Name under the API Key.

Go back to the window where Mailgun is open. You will see Sending on the left side of the screen. Click on Sending, and a drop-down menu will appear.

By default, you will be redirected to the Domains.

Copy the Domain name.

After copying the key, return to the Post SMTP settings and paste the text into the Mailgun Domain Name field.

If you have Mailgun Europe Region, click on the checkbox. Then click Save and Continue.

Sending a Test Email: –

A screen will appear with the field Recipient Email Address. This step will allow you to send an email address for testing.

Enter the Recipient email address and click Send Test Email.

Click on the Finish button

You can view the log section by clicking the “View logs section” buttons or skip to the dashboard by clicking Skip to dashboard.

That’s it! Now, you can configure Post SMTP with Mailgun on your WordPress site.
