Resend is a reliable email delivery service that enables websites and applications to send transactional emails efficiently. By integrating Resend with the Post SMTP plugin, you can send authenticated emails without managing complex infrastructure.

Let’s walk through how to integrate Resend with the Post SMTP plugin to send emails from your WordPress site.

Ensure that the Post SMTP plugin is installed and activated on your WordPress site. If not, download it from the WordPress Plugin Directory.

Setting up Your Resend Account

To get started with Resend, you’ll need to create an account. If you already have an account, log in at Resend Login. If not, sign up and complete the activation steps.

Step 1: Verify Your Domain

Before you can send emails with Resend, you must verify your domain.

1. In the Resend Dashboard, go to Domains from the left menu.

2. Click Add Domain.

You will see fields where you need to:

  • Enter the domain name (or subdomain) you want to register.
  • Select the appropriate region.

3. Click Add Domain to start the verification process.

4. You will be provided with DNS records. Add these records in your domain’s DNS settings.

5. Once completed, return to Resend and click I’ve added the records to verify your domain.

  • You may also use the Forward Instructions option to share DNS records with someone else (e.g., your hosting provider) for setup.

After your domain is verified, you can proceed to generate an API key.

Step 2: Create an API Key

1. From the left-hand menu, click API Keys.

2. Click Create API Key.

3. Fill in the following details:

  • Name: Choose a name to identify this key.
  • Permissions: Ensure that Sending Access is enabled.
  • Domain: Select the domain you just verified.

4. Click Add, then copy the API key for later use.

⚠️ Important: You can see the API key only once. Make sure to copy and store it safely.

Step 3: Connect Resend with Post SMTP

Once your domain is verified and the API key is created, you can configure Resend in the Post SMTP plugin using the generated API key in three easy steps.

1. From your WordPress dashboard, open Post SMTP.

2. Start the setup wizard and select ‘Resend’ as your mailer.

3. Click Continue to proceed to the configuration screen.

In this step:

  • Enter your From Email Address and Name.
  • Ensure your From Email matches the Admin Email Address and the domain you verified in Resend.
  • Enable the toggle to lock the From Email and Name to prevent changes from plugins and themes.
  • Paste the Resend API Key you copied earlier into the API Key field.
  • Click Save and Continue to proceed.

Note: The From Email in Post SMTP must match the domain you have verified in Resend. The part after the “@” in your sender email address must use your registered domain.

Sending a Test Email

You’ll now see a screen prompting you to send a test email:

  • Enter the Recipient Email Address where you want to send the test.
  • Click Send Test Email to verify the configuration.
  • If the email is sent successfully, click Finish to complete the setup.

Checking Logs and Exploring More

To review sent emails, click the View Logs Section.

If you prefer to skip log viewing, click Skip to the Dashboard to go to the main interface.

There’s more to explore – check the dashboard for additional features and settings to optimize your email delivery.

With Resend integrated through Post SMTP, your WordPress site is now set up to send authenticated, reliable emails without worrying about deliverability issues. By following the steps above, you’ve successfully verified your domain, securely configured your API key, and ensured your email settings are locked down for consistency.
