SMTP2Go is a cloud-based email delivery platform designed to simplify the process of sending emails. As a third-party email service provider, SMTP2Go provides an easy-to-use interface and APIs to send emails securely and reliably. Acting as a mail relay, SMTP2Go accepts email messages from clients and forwards them to the appropriate recipient servers.

The service includes a variety of features, such as email tracking, analytics, detailed reporting, spam filtering, and virus scanning. It works with numerous email clients and devices, making it a versatile choice for businesses of any size.

Setting up SMTP2Go Account:

To begin, you’ll need to create an  SMTP2 Go account. If you already have an account, simply click the “Get started” button on the SMTP2Go Pricing page. If you don’t have one yet, click on the option to sign up and create a new SMTP2Go account.

Once the activation is complete, the login window will appear. Enter your registered email address and the password you created, then click the login button to access your account.

Installing and Activating the Post SMTP Plugin

Before getting started, you’ll need to install the Post SMTP plugin.

Let’s cover the steps to set up SMTP2Go with Post SMTP.

Once you have set up your SMTP2Go account, you will be directed to the Dashboard, where you can configure your account settings. As part of the setup, you will need to create a Username and generate an API Key for your SMTP configuration.

You can set up your API key by navigating to the SMTP2Go Dashboard > Sending > API Keys, then clicking the Add API Key button.

A pre-generated API key will be displayed. Set a description and adjust the rate limit based on your purchased business plan, then click the Add API Key button to save the settings.

You need to create your first API key on SMTP2Go. Once generated, your API key will be displayed

Copy it from here for use in your SMTP configuration.

Next, proceed to the Post SMTP Setup Wizard and select SMTP2Go as your preferred mailer. Then, click the Continue button to proceed with the configuration.

In this step, you will see the From Address field. Enter your email address and name. Ensure that the From Email matches both your Admin Email Address and SMTP2Go Login Email for a smooth configuration.

To prevent plugins and themes from modifying these settings, enable the toggle button located under the From Email and Name fields.

Paste the API key you copied earlier into the Post SMTP API Key field. Then, click the Save and Continue button to proceed with the setup.

Sending a Test Email

A screen will appear with a field for the Recipient Email Address. This step allows you to test the email configuration.

  1. Enter the Recipient Email Address where you want to send the test email.
  2. Click Send Test Email to verify the setup.
  3. Once the test email is sent successfully, click the Finish button to complete the process.
