Microsoft / Outlook Mailer One-Click Setup Guide

Estimated reading: 3 minutes 89 views

If you’re looking for a fast, secure, and streamlined way to configure the Microsoft Outlook / Office 365 mailer using Post SMTP, the One-Click Setup feature allows you to complete the integration with minimal effort and no advanced technical knowledge.

To begin, ensure that the latest version of the Post SMTP plugin is installed and activated on your WordPress site. If it’s not yet installed, please refer to our Installation & Activation guide, and be sure to verify your license.

This guide walks you through the steps required to set up the Microsoft Mailer using the simplified One-Click Setup flow within Post SMTP.

Please note that this feature is available as part of the Post SMTP Business plan.

Before starting the Microsoft One-Click Setup, you must first activate the Microsoft One-Click SMTP extension from the Extensions menu in Post SMTP.

Note: Make sure the Microsoft Office 365 extension is enabled, as it is required to activate and use the Microsoft One-Click SMTP feature.

Setup Microsoft One-Click SMTP

The Microsoft One-Click Setup is designed to be quick and straightforward, requiring minimal manual configuration.

  • Open the Post SMTP Dashboard in your WordPress admin.
  • Launch the Setup Wizard.
  • Under the Mailer section, select Microsoft (Outlook / Office 365) as your mailer option..
  • Enable One-Click Setup.

Note: You’ll need to login to the account specified in your From Email Address. Otherwise, the connection won’t work, and you’ll likely encounter the error code 403.

Authorizing Post SMTP with Your Microsoft Account

Once One-Click Setup is enabled, proceed with the Microsoft account authorization process:

  • Scroll down to the Authorization section.
  • Click the Sign in with Microsoft button.

A Microsoft login window will appear.

  • Sign in using the Microsoft account (Outlook / Office 365) you want to use for sending emails.
  • Microsoft will request permission to share basic profile information and mail-sending access with Post SMTP.
  • Click Accept to continue.

Authorization Confirmation

After successful authorization:

  • You will be redirected back to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  • A confirmation message will appear, verifying that your Microsoft account has been successfully connected.
  • The connected email address will now be displayed in the Authorization section.

To remove the existing authorization at any time, click the Remove Authentication button. Once removed, the mailer configuration will automatically reset to its default settings.

Note: If authorization fails, your Microsoft Entra ID administrator may need to allow third-party applications or grant admin consent for mail-sending permissions.

Final Steps and Support

Once your Microsoft 365 account is authorized and configured via One-Click Setup, your email delivery system is fully operational. You can monitor activity using the Email Log feature.

If you experience delivery failures or need further assistance, we recommend running a diagnostic & connectivity test and reaching out to our Support Team. Our experienced engineers are dedicated to resolving email deliverability challenges quickly and effectively.

At Post SMTP, we are committed to providing reliable solutions and exceptional support to help your emails reach their destination every time.
