Office/Microsoft 365(PRO) with Post SMTP

The Post SMTP plugin’s Outlook / Microsoft 365 mailer leverages Microsoft’s Graph API to enhance the deliverability of your website’s emails in a secure manner. Although the completion of your account setup with Microsoft necessitates a credit card, it’s free to use your account for better email delivery.

New users are offered a complimentary 30-day trial. Once the 30-day trial has passed, you’ll need to subscribe to a pay-as-you-go plan to continue using Microsoft’s API.

License Prerequisites:

The Post SMTP Pro license or a higher tier is required to access the Office 365 mailer.

Setting up the Wizard: –

• Before getting started, you’ll need to install the Post SMTP plugin.

• Let us cover all the steps to set up Office 365 with Post SMTP.

• Go to the Post SMTP dashboard and click on Start the wizard.

Mailer: –

A window will pop up containing different Mailers services. Select Office 365 API from here.

You have selected Office 365 API; a new section titled From Address and Office365 API will appear.

For the From Address, there are two required fields.

a.     From Email (You must use the same email address you used to log in to your Azure account.)

b.    From Name.

The “Prevent plugins and themes for changing this” toggle button will be under the From Email and Name fields. Check both of them enabled.

Logging in Microsoft Azure Account: –

For the Office365 API section, you must configure the app in your Microsoft Azure Account.

You already have Microsoft email, so Log in to your Microsoft Azure with your existing credentials.

If you want to create a new account, you can sign up for Microsoft Azure. If you are not redirected automatically,

Go to the Azure portal.

Creating a client ID: – 

In the Azure Portal, go to the search bar on top of the page and search App registrations.

A drop-down menu will appear consisting of many services. Select App Registrations from the menu.

You will see the +New Registration option at the top of the App Registrations page. Select that.

In the App Registration form, you have to fill in the details.

• Name: You can name this by your choice.

Supported account types: Accounts in any organizational directory (Any Azure AD directory – Multitenant) and personal Microsoft accounts (e.g., Skype, Xbox)

Redirect URL: Select Web from the first drop-down menu. Now, you must navigate to the Post SMTP settings for the second field.

Getting the Redirect URL: –

Redirect URL: Select Web from the first drop-down.

Let’s navigate to the Post SMTP settings for the redirect URL.

Copy the redirect URL under the Client Secret (Value) field and paste that into your Microsoft Azure app registration form. Keep both tabs open because we need to switch time by time.

Once the Registration form is submitted, you will see a page. Here, you will find the Application (Client) ID.

Copy that and then switch back to the Post SMTP settings tab.

Paste the Application (Client) ID value in the Application (Client) ID field.

Creating Client Secrets: –

Switch back to the Azure window. Our next step is to create an Application Password.

For that, click on the Certificate & Secrets from the left sidebar.

Click on +New client secret. A pop-up window will appear with a short form. Fill out the short form with the necessary information.

 Description: You can write any name here. It’s only for your use.

• Expires: You can select the expires up to 730 days (24 Months).

Click on the Add button to submit the form. Once the form is submitted, the Value will be generated.

Copy the Value column. Switch back to Post SMTP settings and

Paste the Value in the field labeled as Client Secret (Value).

Connecting to Office 365 for Authentication: – 

You will see the Authentication (Required) consisting of a button named Connect to Office365 under the Redirect URL field. Click on the button to Authenticate. Once you have clicked the button, you will be redirected to the Microsoft permission form. You will see the Yes at the bottom of the state.
Click Yes, and you will turn to the Post SMTP setting page.

After the successful authentication, you will see the “The OAuth 2.0 authorization was successful. Ready to send e-mail” message.

Click on the Save and Continue button present at the end of the right side to proceed.

Sending a Test Email: – 

A screen will appear with the field Recipient Email Address. This step will allow you to send an email address for testing.

Enter the Recipient Email Address and click Send Test Email.

Click on the Finish button.

You can view the log section by clicking on the “View logs section” buttons or skip to the dashboard by clicking Skip.

That’s it! Now, you can configure Post SMTP with Office 365 mailer on your WordPress site.
