SendGrid with Post SMTP

SendGrid stands as a robust and widely adopted reliable email delivery service. Much like other mailers, it uses a secure API and offers a free account and no credit card is required to initially sign-up for that free account.

SendGrid post-SMTP equips business owners with the knowledge and insights they need to enhance their email communication strategies, whether they work for a small startup or a sizable corporation.

Setting up the SendGrid Account: –

If you haven’t done so, go to SendGrid’s and create an account. 

Here, you can choose the account type that most closely matches the needs of your website. 

For example, we’ll use their free plan with a daily email cap of 100. Regardless of your plans, the setup will proceed using the same steps.

After that, SendGrid will prompt you to create an account username and password.

Then, SendGrid might further inquire about your business to customize your account.

After filling out all required fields, click Get Started! to continue.

Go to the inbox of the email address you use to sign up for SendGrid. 

You will see an email from SendGrid open that. You will see a button in the email, Set-up Two Factor Authentication. Click that.

It will open a new window for Set-up Two Factor Authentication.

Click on the checkbox and then click on Get Started.

Creating a Sender Identity: –

Before using SendGrid to send emails, you must set up a sender identity.

Establishing One Sender as a SendGrid Account Member: –

You can create a single sender in SendGrid to establish a trusted sender email address.

To do this, go to the SendGrid dashboard menu and choose Settings » Sender Authentication.

Scroll down, see Single Sender Verification, and click on Get Started.

The sender’s name, email address, and postal address must now be entered on the panel.

Once you’ve filled out the necessary fields, click the Create button.

An email confirmation will be sent to the address you provided.

Click the link in that message to validate your email and finish setting up your single sender identity.

Installing and Activating the Post SMTP Plugin: –

 Before getting started, you’ll need to install the Post SMTP plugin.

Let’s cover the steps to set up SendGrid with Post SMTP.

Go to the Post SMTP dashboard and click on Start the wizard.

Mailer: –

A window will pop up containing different Mailers services; select SendGrid from here.

For the From Address, there are two required fields.

a.     From Email (You must use the same email address you used to log in to your SendGrid account.)

b.     From Name.

The “Prevent plugins and themes for changing this” toggle button will be under the From Email and Name fields. Check both of them enabled.

Now, you have to enter the API Key.

Generating an API Key: –

Click on API Key to be redirected to the SendGrid API Key screen. 

Click on Create API Key.

A window will appear. Now write the API Key Name, and for the permission, select Full Access. Then click on Create & View.

An API Key will be generated. Make sure to copy the API Key and save it somewhere safe. After copying, click on Done.

Return to the window/tab where you left the Post SMTP setup wizard open. Paste the API Key in the field and click Save and Continue.

Sending a Test Email: –

A screen will appear with the field Recipient Email Address. This step will allow you to send an email address for testing.

Enter the Recipient Email Address and click Send Test Email.

Click on the Finish button.

You can view the log section by clicking the “View logs section” buttons or skip to the dashboard by clicking Skip to dashboard.

That’s it! Now, you can configure Post SMTP with SendGrid mailer on your WordPress site.
